English Trip to Stratford Upon Avon
Miss Jones:
During this final term, we were able to take a group of Year 7s to visit the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. Students were able to spend the day immersed in the culture of Shakespeare and learning about what his life was like. The day consisted of visiting the house where Shakespeare was born and spent his childhood in; learning about their day to day habits and how Shakespeare was inspired to write his renowned plays. Students were also able to have a talk from one of the Shakespeare experts at the Trust - it was wonderful to see our students become involved in the multiple quizzes and sharing the plethora of knowledge they had. At the end of the day, students gathered into groups to discuss the events of the day and even took the time to imitate Shakespeare's art by writing sonnets about what they had learnt. Students were fantastic and a true representation of the excellence we have at Redhill.

The Stratford Trip was amazing! I loved learning about Shakespeare and what his life was like. We got to see where he was born and the jobs of his family - his father was a glover! We got to write a poem about him, learn all sorts of Shakespearean words and phrases which we use in everyday life now - I even won a badge!
Isabelle D:
The trip to Stratford was really fun! We got to hang out with friends, look inside Shakespeare's house, watch an interesting presentation and see lots of artefacts. I really enjoyed my visit to Stratford and I can't wait to visit again soon. Also, we are learning about Romeo and Juliet in English at the moment ; the trip was really helpful to understand the background behind the play. I am very grateful to the school for the amazing opportunity.
