If the teacher has set an assignment you can ask a question using the private comments feature. To do this, click on the assignment your teacher has set, then on the right of the page you will see the option for private comments under the ‘Your work’ section. You can also ask a question using ‘Class comments’ which is at the bottom of the assignment page. Please note that all students in the class will be able to see questions asked under class comments.

I can’t view/edit an office file I’ve been assigned?

Please follow the steps in the guide below if the preview is not showing correctly for a file, if you need to edit the file but can’t or if you have accidentally deleted a file given to as part of an assignment. This may save you having to print anything out.

Do I need Microsoft Office to do my work?

You do not need a copy of office in order to do any of the set work. There may be office files posted by your teachers but these can be viewed in the browser or converted to a google doc if you need to edit them (please see the guide above). Google docs all work through the browser so there is no need for any additional software.

You can also create new documents to hand in if needed (please see how do I hand in work section below).

How do I hand in work? Can I upload a photo? How do I create a new google doc?

If an assignment has been set in google classroom, you may have been given a worksheet or booklet to fill in, or it may have been left for you to upload your own work (you always have the option to do this.) Work may also have been set for you to complete in your class books. Once you have completed or uploaded your work, make sure to click the ‘hand in’ button so the work is submitted to your teacher. Please find a detailed guide on handing work in and creating new documents below.

If you have done the work in your book or on paper you can take a picture if you have a mobile phone and then hand it in using the google classroom app. Please see the second guide below for instructions.

Where is my work stored?

All your work is stored in your google drive. Your google drive is your free online storage for your @Redhillclassroom account.

When you create or are given work for assignments, the files will populate in your google drive under the classroom folder, so you can view them here at any time. Go into the classroom folder, then find the relevant class folder.

There are circumstances in which you may be asked to take part in a live lesson from home. You can access these lessons through Google Classroom.
