Year 7 Smash the Football League!
Year 7 Girls 6-a-side Football League report
Week 1
“Redhill hosted the first of the Year 7 Girls 6-a-side football league competition last night, where 7 Dudley schools entered the league including Redhill, Earls, Hagley, Kinver, Leasowes, Pedmore and Windsor.
The turn out from all of the schools was amazing and we were extremely proud to have provided a team of all female Redhill officials from Year 10 and Year 11! They did an outstanding job and were fantastic role models for the younger girls, even after fifteen games had been played, the temperature had dropped significantly, and snow was starting to fall! Well done, Freya, Mia, Annabel and Lucy!
The Year 7 girls had their first match against Pedmore, starting brilliantly and scoring three goals by half time, they went on to score a fourth in the second half to win 4-0!
Their second match was against Windsor and the girls had a much closer match but managed to come away with a fantastic 1-0 win.
Earls were the third team the girls faced, and this was the closest battle so far. Earls scored first, then Redhill, and the girls worked fantastically as a team to score in the second half to win 2-1.
Leasowes were their last opponents and they finished with a 1-1 draw, but they hit the woodwork several times in the second half and nearly won.
We are so proud of you all, what a start to the season! Well done Ania'h, Anna, Darcey, Hali, Imogen-Eve, Maisie and May! Thank you to Miss McGlynn and Mr Fisentzides for all of the hours you have spent coaching the girls. The fixtures will continue over the next two Tuesdays after school here at Redhill!” - Miss Evans

Week 2
Redhill Still Undefeated!
“Redhill hosted the second of the Year 7 Girls six a side football league competition today on the 24th January, where seven Dudley schools have entered the league including Redhill, Earls, Hagley, Kinver, Leasowes, Pedmore and Windsor. After their fantastic start to the league competition last week, Redhill were undefeated entering the second week of league matches. The squad welcomed back Millie Beard who was unavailable last week so we had a brilliant squad of eight for our four matches.
The Year 7 girls had their first match against Kinver, Millie made a blistering start to the game, scoring against Kinver, winning the first match 1-0.
Their second match was against Hagley, and we were prepared for a very close match. May took a beautiful touch just in front of the goal and guided the ball into the path of Millie who kicked it firmly into the back of the net! Millie then returned the favour crossing a ball to May who slotted the ball perfectly past the goalkeeper, then Maisie sealed the game with great strike, winning 3-0.
Pedmore were the third team the girls faced, and they performed brilliantly, Millie scored one, Maisie scored two and then Anna stormed through from defence to score two more in a row, 5-0! What a result!
Windsor were their last opponents and they finished with a 1-1 draw, but they were so close to scoring and narrowly missed the win.
All of the girls played brilliantly, Ania'h displayed some very fancy footwork and kept the ball away from the defence of the other teams with some clever trick passes and fed the ball upfront really well! Darcy, Anna, May and Hali defended brilliantly, and Redhill only let one goal through in all four games. Fantastic goalkeeping by Imogen for the first three games and well done to Anna for stepping in for the last game!
We are so proud of you all, one more Tuesday to go and you are still undefeated! Well done Ania'h, Anna, Darcey, Hali, Imogen-Eve, Maisie, May and Millie!
Thank you again to the Y11 referees, the event couldn't run without you! Thank you to Freya, Mia and Lucy!” - Redhill PE department⚽️🤩
Week 3
“On the 31st January, the third and final of the Y7 6 -a-side football league fixtures were to be played here at Redhill. The team have played brilliantly over the past two weeks and remained undefeated!
The first match was against Earls and Millie scored a super goal, but Earls fought back with determination to score their first, which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
The girls faced Leasowe's as their second opponents, the team stayed in a beautiful formation and passed the ball around perfectly, helping to set up six beautiful goals! Well done for a brilliant 6-0 win and especially to Ania'h for her lightning runs on the left and to Anna for sprinting through from defence to score again this week!
Kinver had a very strong defensive unit, but Millie, Maisie and then May all managed to find gaps and place the balls perfectly past their keeper, finishing with a 3-0 win!
The final match was against Hagley, who have also played well throughout the league fixtures, but May sealed our second win against them with the only goal of the match, with Redhill winning 1-0.
Darcy , Anna and Hali stayed focused in defence, and kept so many threats at goal away. Well done to all!
The girls all supported Imogen, who was a very controlled and safe pair of hands as our goalkeeper and she kept eight clean sheets, only letting three goals pass her in eleven games, amazing Imogen!
The Y7 Redhill footballers played and behaved impeccably, and they are a credit to the school, you have supported each other from start to finish and demonstrated determination, resilience and excellent sportsmanship.
Huge thanks also go to our female referees, who grew in confidence week by week and were brilliant role models. Thank you, this week, goes to Lucy, Mia and Freya, we are all extremely proud of you and we couldn't have hosted the event without you!
We are very excited to hear if we are the overall Y7 league winners! Stay posted!” - Redhill PE Department
