Year 6 to Year 7 Transition

Message from Head of Year

Hi Year 6! My name is Mr Bishop and I have the privilege of being your Head of Year when you start at Redhill. The induction days showed all the current staff and students at Redhill just how fantastic a year group you are going to be. The enthusiasm, positivity and fantastic manners that you demonstrated that day were exactly the kind of characteristics we want all our pupils to show.

Over the coming weeks, we hope you will use this website page to give you lots of information about life at Redhill. I hope that this information will help you to feel more confident about your move to us. Please keep going back to see updates on subjects, current Year 7 news and information about Induction. Have fun looking at the range of video clips, which will introduce you to many of the staff at Redhill and tell you about the subjects they teach. You will also see some of our older students who will tell you about their experiences of Redhill so far.

In addition, you will also be receiving a “Transition Toolkit”, which will give you more support in preparing for life at Redhill.

There will be a few nerves over the summer about starting secondary school, and that is completely normal. Please just ask any member of our school community if there is anything you are worried about, and we will do our best to take those worries away.

Our job at school is to provide excellent teaching, the right pastoral care when you need it, and to make sure that there are a wealth of exciting extra-curricular opportunities so that you can have as many enriching experiences as possible through the next five years. You will have a brilliant time at Redhill. We wish you a safe and enjoyable summer break, and look forward to seeing you on your first day.

Best wishes,

Mr A Bishop

Message from Head of Primary Transitions

Hi, Year 6! I hope you, your families and friends are all well. My name is Ms Savidge and I feel very lucky to be your Head of Year when you start at Redhill School. That means that I have the wonderful job of looking after you all, not only as you move from your primary school but then once you are a member of Redhill as well. I really can’t wait to meet and get to know to you all!

You will also see some of our fabulous older students (possibly even some familiar faces for some of you!), who will tell you about their experiences of Redhill so far. They will have shared many of the questions and worries that you may have now so we hope that their thoughts will help to reassure you. You’ll be able to see some of the different areas around the school and learn about what some of the exciting and fun things you’ll be doing next year.

In addition, you will also be receiving a “Transition Toolkit”, which will give you more support in preparing for life at Redhill.

Please know that, as a school, we are all committed to making your move to us as happy and positive as it possibly can be and that we are all here to help and reassure you.

I know that I speak for all the Redhill community when I say that we are so looking forward to welcoming you to Redhill! In the meantime, though, please keep looking at the website, which will be regularly updated, and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Very best wishes,

Ms Savidge

Year 7 News!

Year 7 went to Kinver Scout Camp for the day in March, they had the most incredible time on the zipwire, abseiling, orienteering and more!

Year 7 English went to Mary Stevens Park to write descriptively about nature and compare it to the city. They were treated to an ice cream after their hard work!

Nia tells us about her fantastic medal she won in her swimming race in a video interview. Well done Nia!

Max embarked on a 53 mile walk over the weekend!! What a huge challenge! He walked 27 miles on Saturday and 26 on Sunday with his dad and brother.

This took them roughly 10 hours each day! They took breaks at checkpoints and had their books stamped, and made sure to bring lots of snacks along the way.

Year 7 band named ‘Wrong Way System’ played for parents at the Achievement Assemblies in April! To read more about the lead guitarist, Will, please click here to view his entry on the Redhill Writes Blog.

Lilly-Rose has competed in lots of dance competitions and trained incredibly hard. To read more about Lilly-Rose’s dancing achievements, please click here to view her entry on the Redhill Writes Blog.

Bailey took part in the Sandwell Aquatics Centre Inaugural Test Event at the new Commonwealth Pool on Saturday30th April. What a fantastic life experience and achievement! He was involved in the u13s water polo festival in the morning, scoring many goals and meeting Great Britain water polo players Fran Vincent and Rosie Thomas.

In the evening, Bailey also represented Stourbridge Swimming Club in the relay gala. Congratulations, Bailey, we are all so proud of this news!

The school production 2022 is Annie, and most of the cast is made up of Year 7s !
