Top tips for writing a story with a plot twist...
The unexpected villain, such as an illness, the nice OAP next door or a ghostly shadow...
When the main conflict is resolved, throw in an unforeseen turn of events
An open ending, where the reader is left to ponder what happened next
Misdirection - red herrings, dead ends or misguided attention
False assumptions – let the reader think they know what’s going to happen, but it doesn’t
